What is Channel Zer0?

Channel Zer0 is a community initiative which uses video, radio, the internet and music as a means of engaging young people in issues which concern their immediate communities, peers and social groups.

Channel Zer0 projects are practical media experiences, where the participants get first hand experience of operating video cameras, sound recording, presenting, interviewing and scriptwriting. Throughout the projects the young people are supported by at every stage by TV and radio professionals, and work alongside an editor in post-production to ensure the final production remains true to their original concept and intentions.

At the end of each Channel Zer0 project the video productions and radio programmes are transmitted, screened and played to audiences by a variety of means, promoting further discussion on the subject matters covered at a deeper level, and (most importantly) prompting direct action to address issues raised in the work.
